If your holiday party is on a Saturday, the Monday before may seem like a convenient time for a chemical peel. With a facial VI Peel, though, you could still be peeling when it’s time to get ready. At Revived Aesthetics in Plano, we suggest working backward from the first day you’ll want to wear makeup, pose for photos, or head out of town.
With the facial VI Peel we offer, flaking often starts around day two and usually finishes around day seven. Your skin may still feel dry or look pink after the last flakes come off. If this is your first peel, give yourself extra time to see how your skin responds.
For example, if your family photos are on December 20, consider an appointment in the first week of December. That leaves room for peeling to run its course without counting on your skin to settle by a particular morning. If the event is only a few days away, we may suggest scheduling your peel afterward.
At your consultation in our Plano studio, tell us what you’d most like to improve. A VI Peel can help soften rough texture or make uneven pigmentation less noticeable. If dark spots are your main concern, we can discuss what one treatment may accomplish and whether a series makes sense after the holidays.
A few details will help us choose the timing and give you instructions that fit your routine:
Your earliest event, including a makeup trial or photo session before the main gathering
Any holiday travel, especially a trip that will involve time in the sun
The retinoids, exfoliating acids, or prescription skin products you use
How your skin responded to previous peels, including how long redness or flaking lasted
We provide a post-peel kit with instructions for caring for your skin at home. For the first 72 hours after a VI Peel, skip strenuous workouts, saunas, and hot showers. As your skin begins to flake, let it shed on its own. Scrubbing away a patch to help foundation go on smoothly can irritate the skin underneath.
If your plans include an outdoor gathering, bring a hat, seek shade, and follow our sunscreen instructions. We’ll also let you know when you can wear makeup again and when to restart your usual skin care products.
